Position Overview & Specifications
The Diocese of Blackburn is seeking to appoint a proactive, organised and skilled people-person to the role of Director of Education. This role is the senior officer primarily responsible for leading on the delivery of Diocese of Blackburnβs Vision 2026 through work with schools, universities, children and young people (The inspiring children and young people vision strand).
You will lead an experienced team and be accountable to the Board of Education. As a senior leader you will form part of the diocesan senior team under the Diocesan Bishop.
The Board of Education priorities are:
- Sharing its vision and passion for the churches work in schools and with children and young people
- Raising standards in church schools and academies
- Responding to new school structures and organisations
- Building on the high standards of service and support provided to our 189 church schools/academies
- Promoting equity, diversity and justice across our work
The successful candidate will have:
- A passion for living out the gospel through serving schools and parishes
- A clear vision for how to enable children and young people to see something of Godβs Kingdom
- Experience of working within the education sector
- A clear understanding of national educational policy
- An understanding of the culture of the Church of England
- An ability to work effectively with a variety of people and build strong relationships
