Want to help change how the world is fed?

Higher Steaks was founded to transform the global food system by making delicious and nutritious food – from animal cells and plants. We are pioneering the development of cultivated meat to solve some of the globe’s growing challenges in health, sustainability and animal welfare.

We're a creativity, science and engineering-driven company dedicated to creating breakthrough technologies that will help address and push the boundaries of what’s possible – delivering innovations that benefit people and the planet.

Our brilliant team are experts in their respective fields, drawn from around the world. We’re passionate, curious, innovative and at the forefront of the ground-breaking work being done in this exciting and rapidly growing sector. Higher Steaks is a well-funded biotech company and we’ve more than doubled our headcount in 2022. We’ll be continuing to grow in 2023 and looking to rapidly increase the non-technical side of the business, so this is a great time to join us and become part of the team solving one of the most important challenges we face today!

This means you will also enjoy exposure to different areas of our business from biotech to product (food) development to operations. The CEO lives in London, so we’re looking for someone whose time zone easily overlaps with hers.

Our headquarters are in Cambridge, UK, but we are open to this role being hybrid or fully remote.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Conserve the CEO’s time by preparing and analysing information in advance, helping connect the dots internally and externally
  • Make sure the CEO is well informed of upcoming commitments and responsibilities, following up appropriately
  • Book business travel arrangements, including both Cambridge commutes and international travels, compiling itineraries and managing the schedule whilst abroad
  • Support recruitment where needed for CEO’s direct reports
  • Act as a sounding board and sparring partner
  • Complete ad hoc projects as assigned

  • Discreet, knows how to identify and communicate sensitive information. You have a high level of integrity and excellent judgement
  • A can-do approach to everything, you’re resilient and determined
  • A born planner, with exceptional organisational skills, you’re someone who enjoys prioritising a busy workload. You know how to handle multiple concurrent tasks, anticipate changes and make competing priorities work to meet rigid deadlines, even if after working hours (as needed)
  • Exceptional diary management skills with experience in coordinating a hectic and fast-changing schedule
  • You know how to interact with all levels: from our board to execs to other founders and everyone across the organisation and outside whether its a junior member of a collaborator or a Fortune 500 CEO
  • You have prior experience as a PA/EA to a founder, C-level or another senior executive leader (s) whose role is complex, challenging and fast-paced
  • You have very strong communications skills
  • Very high level of attention to detail

We’d love it if you also have:

  • Your writing skills are really exceptional: you can distil complex topics into succinct messages, you’re a great storyteller and can help predict how others will receive the message
  • Experience working with founder CEOs
