We are looking for a

  • Games Art Programme Tutor
  • Salary- £28,316 - £31,883

The Role:
With a relevant degree and a teaching qualification or willingness to work towards this, you will have a broad range of skills relating to Games Design. An understanding and experience of the Games industry and its demands are essential. You will have good organisational skills and be able to advise and support students through their career development and planning. Ongoing staff training and support is available as part of our professional development for curriculum staff. An interest and passion for continuing professional development in industry and education is essential. We are currently working with Tom Sherrington on a Teach to Distinction programme of training for Teaching and Learning.

The role will require you to embed and work to the college’s values; working with Integrity, having Ambition to help our learners succeed and being inclusive to learners and colleagues alike.

You will provide students with the knowledge and skills they need to progress to University or an apprenticeship in Games Design. You should be able to demonstrate that you have;

  • Experience of traditional visual communication skills such as observational drawing, digital image making and animation.
  • Applicants should have their own portfolio of their work in the field of games and animation.
  • Experience of teaching digital 3D Modelling, texturing, VR and/or animation skills.
  • Experience of working in the Games industry as a games artists or designer.
  • Experience of creative project management and will understand and be able to guide students through their project work using creative research and development processes.

‘We are really excited to release this role as it will be key for the continued success of our Games Art courses and teaching our students the most up to date and relevant digital and creative skills they need to progress in today’s Creative industry. We are eager to attract individuals from the Creative industry who have up to date skills and knowledge they can share with our learners. We would also like you to be able to show experience in teaching and learning.
You will join our dynamic and experienced Creative team to teach Games Art mainly across levels 1-3, while providing pastoral support for your games students, supporting their progression to their next step and career development plans.

We welcome applications from industry specialists who have some experience in teaching young people and are keen to continue to develop their teaching skills. If you have not taught previously you must state in your application why you wish to change career to a tutor in an Further Education setting.

Our UAL level 1,2 and 3 courses ensure students are both academically and practically prepared for work within technically and creatively driven industries. Our Creative area sits in a recently purpose built building with specialist studios and industry standard suites of equipment and resources. Our Games suit has excellent resources for our Games Art students to thrive. We are supported by a team of specialist technicians who create an exciting and well resourced environment for teaching staff and students.

Oldham College is a medium sized general further education college, with a turnover of almost £25m. It has one main campus in the centre of town, and this in the third phases of a £40m redevelopment which began in 2012. Higher education is taught on a second, dedicated campus, a short walk away. The College delivers a full range of work related education and training, including 16-18 programmes of study, T levels, apprenticeships, adult learning and higher education. It has over 5000 full-time students and 600 undergraduates.
The College is in the top quartile for 16-18 programmes of study and English GCSE resits, and in apprenticeship provision, but is the second highest performing provider Greater Manchester. The quality of its higher education provision is better than many established universities.
