Would you like to help enrich the life of a young person with complex needs?
By becoming a Buddy, youβll help a young person build confidence and form new friendships. Youβll also gain a new friend and have the opportunity to learn valuable skills along the way. Plus, itβs so much fun!
Over half of disabled young people in the UK feel lonely, but at Sense we believe that no one should be left out of life! Our Buddies are so vital to the people we support, and we really couldnβt do what we do without them!
Weβre looking for kind and enthusiastic volunteers who can support young people in Manchester. Our amazing buddying team will talk with you about what you like to do and match you with someone with similar interests, and you can choose how youβd like to spend your time together β whether thatβs art exhibitions, gigs or laser quest.

We typically ask for three to four hours per week for at least six months. Our roles are flexible, so weβll work with you to set up a schedule that works for you.
Weβre looking for volunteers who:
- Live in Manchester.
- Can commit to volunteering with Sense for at least six months.
- Understand the importance of giving people choice and dignity.
- Are reliable, patient, friendly and good at communicating.
- Respect differences in culture and background.
- Have a sense of adventure!
