Position Overview & Specifications
You will work as part of the Ophthalmology Department Team to
provide a high quality ophthalmology service that aims to provide
excellent patient care.
This is a 10PA job plan. In addition there is a requirement to cover six hour
Saturday and Sunday emergency clinics at the Royal Lancaster Infirmary on a 1:9 rota with the other specialist doctors in the department and take part in the 1:9 on call rota as specified above
We are looking for a Specialist Doctor to join the clinical team at Furness General Hospital. The post holder will be contracted for 10 sessions per week and will include an on call pattern on a rotational basis. We would ideally like to hear from clinicians with an interest in Paediatric Ophthalmology.
The Department of Ophthalmology across the three main sites presently consists of 12 Consultants, 10 Associate Specialists.
You should be fully registered with the GMC with a license to practice.
We operate from three main hospitals-Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.
FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.
WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.
All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
