Job Purpose
To contribute to the delivery of an excellent student experience by undertaking a range of teaching, assessment and administrative duties on the Summer Pre-sessional Programme, as requested by the EAP Manager, in order to contribute to learning and teaching objectives in the School of Modern Languages & Cultures.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
1. Contribute to the planning, organisation and delivery of Pre-sessional English Teaching.
2. Deliver a range of teaching and assessment activities directed towards the delivery of subjects within English for Academic Study.
3. Participate in a range of course administration duties, within required timescales, including effective communication of information, marking, assessment and timeous constructive feedback.
4. Assist with the development of appropriate teaching materials ensuring content and methods of delivery meet determined learning objectives.
5. Contribute to the effective use of learning technologies to support and enhance course delivery, course organisation, feedback and assessment. This may involve blended and/or online provision including the use of Moodle and other ICT materials.
6. Apply specialist knowledge to teaching that best meet the needs of individuals and groups of learners, ensuring an inclusive and evidence-based approach that promotes student participation and learning outcome attainment.
7. Participate in the full assessment process using a variety of methods and techniques, including oral assessment, and provide effective, timely and appropriate feedback to students that supports their learning.
8. Assist with the facilitation of student learning, and any practical work, advising on skills, methods and techniques to assist the transfer of knowledge, and respond appropriately to the diverse range of learner support/ needs.
9. Engage in continuing professional development activities as appropriate.
10. Undertake any other reasonable duties as required by the Head of School.

Knowledge, Qualifications, Skills and ExperienceKnowledge/QualificationsEssential
A1 Honours degree in relevant area
A2 Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults (CELTA) or equivalent.
A3 Specialist theoretical and practical knowledge of EAP.

B1 Working towards a Professional Teaching qualification (DELTA or equivalent)
SkillsEssential
C1 Digitally literate and familiar with using VLE (e.g. Moodle) and MS Word for administration and assessment processes.
C2 Excellent communication skills both oral and written.
C3 Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
C4 Ability to accept collegiate responsibilities and act accordingly.
ExperienceEssential
E1 1-2 years’ experience of Teaching English for Academic Purposes or relevant.
E2 Relevant administrative experience (e.g. student support, course administration, etc.).
Please note, the Summer Pre-sessional Programme will be delivered exclusively face-to-face at the University of Glasgow campus. Applicants will be required to be available for on-campus work in Glasgow for the duration of the appointment and must have the required Right to Work in UK permissions.Please further note, financial support for accommodation costs cannot be provided as part of this post.

Salary: Grade 6/7, £30,502 - £34,308 / £37,474 - £42,155 per annum
These posts are full time (35 hours per week) and fixed term until 25 August 2023. Work is available in a number of teaching blocks starting from 3 May 2023
