We are now looking to recruit a Lecturer in Graphic Design will be located within the Wales Institute of Science and Art (WISA) but will be focused on delivery at one of our partner institution in Wuhan, Fuzhou or Lanzhou, China.

• THE ROLE –

You will have the opportunity to spend a significant proportion of their work time in China – where all teaching will be in English. In addition, some work will be required in the UK to enable other UK based staff members to engage more fully with the partnership and in liaison to ensure our Chinese students benefit from the latest UK educational materials and methods.
The post holder will be under the line management of the Academic Director but for operational day-to-day duties will work under the guidance of the relevant Programme and Partnership team leaders as well as working closely with Chinese colleagues.

• ABOUT YOU –

To be successful in the role you should have the following:
1) An honours degree in a relevant discipline
2) Evidence of the ability to deliver teaching, assessment and student support at undergraduate level in at least 2 relevant subject areas.
3) Demonstrable ongoing commitment to professional enhancement, scholarship and / or research and project work
4) Good organisational and personal management skills to balance competing pressures of teaching, scholarship, research, administrative demands and deadlines
5) Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to develop international relationships
6) IT proficiency and experience of using e-resources including a willingness to teach by video-link, VLE, e-mail or website delivery
7) Demonstrable commitment to team working
8) Willingness to work flexibly to meet role requirements – particularly long periods in China (e.g. 12 weeks)
It would be beneficial to your application if you have:

9) A masters level degree or PhD in a relevant discipline
10) Membership of a relevant professional body
11) Teaching qualification
12) A holistic understanding of Graphic Design including a range of digital applications and industrial publishing processes
13) Ability to communicate through the medium of Welsh (oral and written).

As part of the role you will be required to spend time in China delivering teaching which are generally 2 separate periods of a maximum of 12 weeks each within an academic year.
